Playing Limbaugh

January 28, 2009

Rush Limbaugh, who has been readying for four years of Obama-bashing, as is his wont, is fast losing friends even among Republican circles. At the same time as gaining weight. This comes after his most recent rant wherein he hoped that the new administration “would be a failure”.

Was amused to read that this rant came after the slight at not being invited to the Obama dinner party with conservative columnists. Silently but surely, it seems everyone wants to be a part of the Obama party. There may be a convert in me as well down the road, if President Obama lives up to his words in this interview on Al Arabiya (a major Arab News Network). I have to say that here, Obama’s diplomatic practicality and practical diplomacy were in awesome display.

Limbaugh is feeling a little left out.

As for Obama, we will see how much running room George Mitchell gets. Given that the US Congress just gave its unconditional support to Israel, Obama has a long way to go to be successful in the Middle East. The chips are stacked against him. There is no political will in the US to resolve the Israel-Palestine issue. Until that fundamentally changes, though I am pleased by Obama’s overture, I am prepared to be disappointed once again.

Adding chicken to the curry sauce is considered to be chicken curry, but curry chicken can mean dredging the chicken in curry powder before cooking.
